This annual school is designed for company and chief officers who have competed a Marine Firefighter School and have a good understanding of how to respond to shipboard fire. The school is usually free of charge and hosted by the Virginia Port Authority and the VPA Maritime Incident Response Team (MIRT). The training includes a variety of panels from industry and public sector agencies who have responsible to respond to vessel emergencies. In addition, various strategies and tactics are discussed and field trips to a container terminal and shipyard are included. The course concludes on the last day with a tabletop fire exercise using fire simulation software to provide realistic response using both incident and unified command organizations.TMSA is proud to support our fellow MIRT organization and hope to see you there!
